I never met. She was a fox.
She was beautiful
with long hair – golden
to her toes. And ruby red lips.
I saw her on the Esplanade
her skirt kind of old
fashioned but that smile.
That smile could launch fifty
firecrackers at once.
Powerful. Long lasting.
She knew I was there
as if I was more than just
a friend. She flirted
with those long eyelashes
I saw as I kept moving
closer in the crowd.
One day she was gone. I
tried but could
not find my sunshine.
Each night as stars
flash brightly I still see
that smile but
it seems so far away.
Time now rides
the memory wind
and I no longer dream
about her anymore.

A tantalising glimpse of a wonder, and sometimes that's the best thing to have.
