I SHUFFLED (2)

a deck of cards

and one spilled onto the floor

it landed with a smack

reminding us of a child we knew

who lived for a while in

such a sad life – tormented by

taking things. Running away

and crying when afoul of the law.

Yet we still love that little

boy – turned into a man we love.
