She was
too young to understand
the night came
too soon for her
to know
now a baby’s on the way
and a foster home
the only way.
He grew up
that little one
turned into a fighting
son of a gun
nobody loves me
the tattoo said
made sure everyone
knew ‘cause it was
etched on his forehead—
little did he know
someone did
and it was his momma
the little girl
from so long ago
eyes daily red
coming on through
still sad about
giving up her little man.
He’s out there--
somewhere.

A long-running crime against humanity. Funny how it all seems acceptable at the time. I can't think where or when the switch flicked on to this practise being inhumane.
