Mysterious Encounter

Snow-print-shadows sought refuge

from the partnership

of cold and wind.

He slipped into the winter creek

lost a boot & sock.

Foolish to test the thickness of ice

simply to short-cut his

return to uncle’s cottage a mile away,

Grief & regrets paved his way

as he headed toward

warmth in a bowl of soup. 0h too

late with foot freezing falls

down. An angel scoops him to safety.
