Phone box fever
I saw you in a phone box,
The one I wanted to use.
I went to all the others,
They all had been abused.
One chewed up my forty pence,
Another spat it out.
Another had no phone at all,
So got a great big clout.
I tried to think of things to do,
But nothing came to mind.
I figured that you must have gone,
But there you stood, stern and strong!
My stomach gurgled; my heart beat fast,
I knew this wasn't cool.
I only looked over once or twice,
It was enough to light old fuel.
I imagined all the girls you rang,
While I stood smoking fags,
Whispering intimate delicacies
To beautiful, blushing slags.
At last your call came to an end,
I still had time to phone my friend.
I felt you close as you walked past,
You seemed to know where not to glance...
