MY DAILY POISON
Valium and coffee gets me through the day
Valium and coffee pushes troubles away
Don’t ring my phone, don’t ring my doorbell
‘Till Valium and coffee wake me from my night-time hell
My little white sugarbabe and my big black bitch
Take away that daytime itch
Keep this quiet, your secret and mine
Or the bastards’ll stop me courting my secret valentines
Someone sang “what a wonderful world”
He never saw the things in my memory’s world
The evils locked up since childhood remain
Valium and coffee keeping me sane
To the buggers that hurt me I’d like you dead
Then I’d sleep well in my bed
‘Till then Valium and coffee
Comfort me instead.
