I am watching the Ethan Hawke "Hamlet" and am finding it rather
interesting. While I would not call it an excellent "Hamlet," it has
some definite strengths. For one, Ethan Hawke's personality rather fits
the "Hamlet" character. He is thoughtful and charismatic with a
tendency toward melancholy. Kenneth Branagh, though a far superior
actor to Hawke, is simply too animated to effectively play Hamlet. I
also enjoy the high technology of the "Hawke" Hamlet.
Recently, an old friend, Chris, came to visit unexpectedly. I was not
feeling well and it was something of a hassle but I spent a couple days
with him. We smoked quite a bit of weed and had some interesting
conversations. We were very close friends from when I was about 13 to
16. He has had some interesting experiences. In Seattle, he made his
living beating up "targets" for money. He has now settled down some. As
I, he will be living in Klamath. We both agree that "Tully's" makes the
very best mocha commercially available.
My brother and I saw a large lava TV in Bi-Mart Today. I was
fascinated by it. What beautiful experiences that piece of technology
could give a person! But so many people, if they had it, would use it
to watch "Fear Factor" or "The Road to Perdition" and it would be
wasted. Good taste is essential to living a worthwhile life. Recently,
I watched an excellent Discovery special called: "In The Age of the
Dinosaurs." It's available on DVD.
after note: My Mom and I have a tradition of walking on a river trail
called "Lithia Park." We were walking there this morning and I told her
I'd recently had a dream that I was with her and had found morrel
mushrooms, a delicacy in the Pacific Northwest. Well, a few minutes
later, I saw a small, dark morrel mushroom and pointed it out to her. I
petted it lightly and said, "Hey little fella," and we moved on.
