Black Cat Rd.

Life's been a little bit hard on me;
I been places you won't ever see.
too much drinking and too few drugs;
too many kicks and too few hugs.
So I play my cards and I roll my dice;
what I call workin you call vice.
Cause I was born on Black Cat Rd.
so many hard years ago,
and I don't know where the wind will blow this boy
but I've learned not to hope too hard.
I'd like to know what you mean by God;
couldn't see no angel through this smog.
And I ain't got no use for the talkin types;
Once you break free they talk nice.
And I've read Plato, I've read Kant;
These damned bad eyes is all I got.
Cause I was born on Black Cat Rd.
so many hard years ago,
and I don't know where the wind will blow this boy
but I've learned not to hope too hard.
And if dreams come true,
I hope they will
cause come the first
I can't pay the bills.
But I'm still fightin for these dreams
that means so much to me.
if I can get some sunny days
then it's okay if I ain't your cup of tea
Cause I was born on Black Cat Rd.
so many hard years ago
and I don't know where the wind will blow this boy
but I try not to think too hard.
Been hustlin this ol block since ten
wearing this chain since twelve.
And I'd do the same damn thing again
so you can judge me and go to hell.
And I may be a cut cock but
you spur me and you'll see:
I got the eye of the tiger;
I fight dirty, low and mean.
Cause I was born on Black Cat Rd.
so many hard years ago
and I don't know who's gonna save this soul
but I try not to slip too far.
