a letter to a friend

Note: As a teenager, I wrote a column for the city newspaper. Matt
Hall, a reporter, managed my work and gave me guidance. We also played
some fierce tennis together. Largely because of politics, he left our
desert newspaper and bought a small newspaper on the Oregon
Coast.
Hi Matt,
How are you and Willow? Very well I hope.
Time will tell how I am, I suppose. Since I wrote you last, I
completed my English degree at Southern Oregon University. In some
ways, even that was difficult for me. It's not that I lack the
intelligence; I lack the ability to conform. For the past couple years,
I've poured my energy into my poetry. I call it poetry but really it's
just unformatted creative writing. I write about whatever I'm thinking
about without worrying about the constraints of genre or even grammar.
A book of my work is published under the title "An Ode To Id" through
publishamerica.com
Aside from that, I've been looking for a writing job. I interviewed to
be the crime reporter at "The Herald and News" and haven't heard back
yet. I'm also waiting to hear about another writing job, which I feel
more confident of getting.
How's the paper at Port Orford? Did that major company ever move in?
How's life on the coast?
All My Best,
Sean Nelson
