This is the bed where
you held both my hands
on a moonless night
and your voice washed
me clean of worries
This is the window where
we gazed out at children
chasing balls and dogs
chasing children and we
marveled at how life just goes on
This is the street where
we walked confident
and weightless
imagining a street
from a childhood painting
lined with pastel houses
and top heavy trees
This is the bench where
we sat to watch the frigates
come in and made our promises
as winter crept into our pockets
This is how we looked
to each other - shining and pure -
before we knew;
The decision had already been made

A stunning ode to fate. I love this line:
and your voice washed
me clean of worries
- what a perfect state to be in.
