Chapter 4
By the time they got back to Valveyer, it was already late into the night. They started heading to the guildhall, knowing it was still open for a few more hours. As they headed there, Holly stopped by a little shop to buy her and Shu a pair of clothes to replace their current ones since they were practically ruined.
As they left, Shu noticed something. There was a group of people in a back alley ganging up on someone. “Heh, you know who we are right? Why don’t you go ahead and pay up, unless you want a beating,” said one of the guys, probably the leader, as they closed in on the guy.
As they were about to attack the guy, a sudden object grazed the “leader’s” nose as it stabbed into the wall. The men jumped back due to the object, a dagger, which shot by them. As they turned toward the person who threw the dagger, they saw a person wearing a cloak over his head. “Hey now, it isn’t right to bully people like that. How about you idiots turn around and leave,” said Shu as he looked at the leader with eyes of disgust.
The leader rubbed his nose and started to laugh as he pushed the guy they were surrounding onto the ground. “HAHA, and who the hell are you? A hero? How about you stop being a pain and get lost.” As he said this, he heard a noise coming from behind. When he turned, he saw another person covered with a cloak, with the four bodies of his allies lying on the ground. He was shocked as Shu and Holly surrounded him.
“You should really leave now. I don’t approve of people bullying the powerless,” said Shu as he pulled his dagger out of the wall. Out of fear, the leader ran while screaming that they would pay for this. Shu went up to the guy on the ground, and found out he was actually just a boy. “What the hell? They were jumping a teenager?” Shu contacted the guards and let them know that one of the guys ran off. The guards took the four Holly nocked unconscious into custody while bringing the boy to the Guard Chamber.
After all this, it was too late to go to the guildhall since a few hours has passed. “Well damn, guess we have to wait till tomorrow,” said Shu as he and Holly stood in front of the hall. A closed sign was hanging on the door, and no lights were on. “Guess we should head back to the inn.”
“Seriously, all because you want to help everyone you see. I mean it’s nice, but can be quite a hassle,” said Holly as they headed to the inn they’re staying at. Even though she said this, she smiled, grateful that she could be of help to the innocent.
Shu, knowing this, didn’t say anything as they walked into the inn. He walked up to the desk, and noticed that Yokima wasn’t there right now. “Hmm… Miss Galina, are you in today?”
As Shu said this, an older lady walked in and leaned against the counter. “Why hello Shu, how did the hunt go? Wait… don’t tell me… you defeated the foul beast and came back safely, am I right?” Said Galina mockingly.
Shu chuckled, and then replied, “well I would hope so since I am standing here right now.” They both chuckled a little more, then Shu said, “well, I need the key to my room. The Guild Hall is close now, so we have to wait till tomorrow to turn in our bounty and get the reward.” Galina turned around, grabbed the keys, and handed to Shu. Shu and Holly waved to Galina, than headed up to their room.
“Tomorrow, we have to wake up early to be sure to get to the guild hall and get our reward,” said Shu as he lay on his bed.
Holly nodded in agreement and said, “I know, but I was wondering about that incident earlier.” Shu looked at her as she continued telling him her thoughts. “That guy said he would get us back. So I was wondering if we would have to deal with him again.” She sat on her bed, thinking about this topic.
Shu laid on his, and then said, “If he does, I will just kick his ass again. I don’t like people like him, and I doubt he would stand a chance…” He suddenly shuttered as if a breeze of icy wind blew through him. Holly noticed this action as she shot up and looked around. Shu got up as well, immediately grabbing his swords, and looked around. They noticed no one as they looked around the room.
“…What was that…?” Shu stood there, still feeling that air of ice, he wondered if they were being attacked, but he noticed that Holly was looking at him weirdly. “What is it Holly?”
She sat back down and told him, “Where you trying to scare me? I don’t sense anything and you just freaked out and jumped. From what I sensed, there is no aura with the intent to attack us here. So stop trying to scare me jerk.” She laid down and looked up at the roof.
Shu stood in shock at the fact that she can’t sense this aura. What the hell is going on here? He looked out the window, and that is when he noticed it. There was a guy standing on the roof across the road. “…” Shu turned and told Holly he will be right back. She said whatever as he walked out the door. Obviously this guy is strong if she didn’t since anything.
When he walked out the door of the inn, the guy he saw on the roof was no longer there. “What the hell?” He looked around the area with no prevail of seeing the guy again. He stood there for a minute, than turned around to walk back in.
Suddenly, he heard someone talk, “hello, are you Shu?” Shu jumped and turned around. There was a guy wearing a battle suite and a large battle-ax on his back. “I thought so… I am here for a bounty… you attacked my principle earlier ago and now you’re my target.” Suddenly, the intensity of the aura Shu felt increased drastically. “Lets go somewhere secluded, unless you want that young girl up there to get involved,” the guy said this in a somewhat comical voice, which seemed out of place, as he turned and walked down the road. Shu, not wanting to put Holly in harms way, followed behind him to protect her.
As they walked off, Holly was looking out the window. “What the hell?” She said in fear. She heard the conversation those two had, and was wondering why she couldn’t since him this whole time. Oh my god, what have we got ourselves into now. Suddenly, she heard her door open. “Who’s there?” She asked as she aimed her bow at the door.
A guy stood at the entrance of the room. This guy had a cut across his nose. He smirked as Holly held the bow, aiming directly at his chest. “Hey now little girl, is that how you treat your guests?”
Suddenly Holly felt light headed. The hell?
“Don’t worry, it won’t hurt at all, you will just be bait. God isn’t karma a bitch,” said the man as he laughed. Another person, a woman, walked into the room and picked up Holly’s unconscious body. “Now, lets get things ready. I am sure Joe will do just fine with that fucking elf brat.” They left the room, taking Holly with them.
