You always called them
blossom trees, and from
that blossom, sprung these,
pears, plums and peaches
with their dusky, pink skin,
soft to the touch.
Softness we eat, the softness
of summer in a dew-drizzled orchard
with its fawn-breast light
softness of sun
and softness of shade
and lazy-daisy-days
where you and I
once lived and loved.
Peaches, plums and pears
and birds on the wing...
ignore, if we can,
the fledgling
by the hedge – fell from its nest
for today can’t be doing with death
just the thin, brown line
of the bumble-bee,
and the needing you needing me
and this moment
that will never come again...
the fledgling – opening its eyes
spreading broken wings
to fly.

Hi Tina,
I agree with the others, this poem had a thoughtful...feel to it. One of care and attention to the detail of nature's bounty, but with also a more in depth significance.
I do so adore the picture with all it's magical colours...beautiful.
Jenny.
