Strangely taboo – yet beautiful,
that last ever image I have of you...
the day you left; sunlight catching
the silver in your hair, and a razor
glinting, as you leant across the sink...
a striped towel around your neck...
the door half ajar...I couldn’t help
but peek...hand to your cheek.
The path you cut through the snow
of foam – your skin beneath, pink
and wet, and I think of that unicorn
in the last ever story you told me...
the one took a drink at a river, shed
its horn by the bank – swam away
into the mist, and all because no one
believed it existed...But you see,
I did.

Deeply emotive for the use of
Deeply emotive for the use of that taboo image and even more so for the fantastical unicorn that all mothers believe in. This has really 'got me.'

I do...I do believe in UNICORNS! From gentle creatures, to the last memory of that someone who didn't quite get it.
A touching poem Tina, that was quite sad at the end.
