Morning Afflatus Reflected On My Window
By skinner_jennifer
- 1916 reads
Dazzle of
twinkling rays
penetrate
imagination,
chinks in
half opened
Venetians...
a reminder
of Sunlight
filtering
through
dappled leaves,
for a while
I'm yearning
for madcap
ideas of adventure,
seduced by
embellished
painted
wagons,
peppered with
a sprinkling of
romantic
landscapes,
a patchwork
quilt of fields
drifting on
and on...
with sweet fragrance
of lush meadow grass
beneath my feet rousing
sparks of wanderlust,
our journey would not be
a gallop or sprint; just
the gentle reminder of
meandering beneath an endless sky,
measured only by a
calm unhurried trot,
leading to promise of nestling down under
black velvet night; viewed only by infinite stars.
Oh! Bless the mind to conjure a
masculine Gypsy – my womanish
effervescence excited to watch as he
works at daily tasks with busy skillful hands,
we're intimate companions
this maverick and me; he's
not robbed of his Mastery,
but leader of all he achieves.
Sorry to ramble!
Just got lost in thought,
can't complain really for
I've felt happiness and sorrow,
life's been salvaged
so many times...
yet here you are again
sagacious as always,
knowing me through and through
I'm reminded: I can't imagine
going on this journey
with anyone but you.

Romantic and escapist dreams
Romantic and escapist dreams mixed with the blessings of coping together with the daily realities of the beautiful and difficult things intertwined!
Meander and unhurried trot seems more descriptive of my pace than sprint these days, but then when you sprint you miss so much to see and that needs doing? Rhiannon

Hi Jenny,
Hi Jenny,
I liked this; the dreamy meanderings were very nicely put. You little tinker, I can see you are after a swarthy gypsy!

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
This is a lovely poem, and inspiring in its thoughts of roaming free and enjoying life. I didn't know the word afflatus, but guess it means bits and pieces of stuff gathered together or something like that.
