Flowers

Broken stems,
Crumpled petals,
Leaves cast without a clue.
Rotting roots,
Spurned seeds,
Colors overdone, yet overdue.
Cracked stone,
Chiseled letters,
Slate in death’s dark hue.
Forgotten coffin,
Begotten tears,
Wood adorned in mildew.
Long dead souls,
Of bygone men,
On which the flowers grew…
Timeless tombs,
And broken bones,
Something old to something new…
