Daisy

Who could pluck out all its feathers,
or twist its head off
from its neck
and watch two more grow back
like a hydra—
and not be impressed?

Who shamed it for growing anywhere,
and everywhere?
Looking at it in disgust
as it thrived under adverse conditions.

Who dared take this beautiful flower
and call it a weed?
