Interiors: within any soul locked. No key. The world is boring. Picasso is boring. Shakespeare is boring. I wonder what this young Korean girl is up to. She looks so desperate. She wants to become American. How she will suffer. You're damned if you do. You're damned if you don't. Strange. Stranger. Stranger Things. Dreams, and when you wake, what a chaotic nightmare life is. Her family life must really suck. An only child and yet she's not quite spoiled. What am I doing here?
-Yes, an order of your best Pinot.
I say it in French and she seems mightily amused. She actually looks semi-beautiful with make-up on. I wonder how old she is? Is she 17 or 18? Sometimes I tire of women my age with the endless demands. Exactly what do they want of me? I tire and tire and I retire. My wife did leave me the modern art paintings if you can call it that. Basquiat, Warhol. Prints, Silkscreens. The factories. These nation states churn out types of people like so much meat packed into a can. They don't know what they are doing anymore more.
-Excuse me?
-Do you like the food, Professor?
What kind of question is that? She's so banal and dull. The banality of evil. The banality of life. It will kill me. Why I decided to teach at NYU is another question I must think about. I could have taught elsewhere. These tough and rude New Yorkers. Too much graft. Too much diversity. Which other country in the world has so much diversity, but that, the thought of something... people love to divide, and then multiply, then subtract. idiots Rule.
