Let us not forever be enemies

let us not forever hate each other, remember
once
we lay in each other's arms and loved all night.
you loved my yellow skin and found me evil
but delighted in saying so.
what is the point of hate
which rots us? your skin
the color, color
of snowflakes at dawn, loving
the indigo music
of your gypsy soul.
how i loved your body and envied it
the curves of your thighs
the curves of your breast
i could have mistaken you for an artwork.
then you asked me,
"why do you hate white people
when all you've learned is from white people."
"jealousy," I responded and you found that
ridiculous.
how I miss you, your brilliantly sharp eyes
a steeled blue, kaleidoscoped.
in my darkest moments, you were there
like an angel, like a soul.
so do not hate me
lest you learn to hate yourself.
