One More Day

one more day

of revolution

dreaming of a time

when we will be free

of mind, soul, and being.

how hard it is to watch these things

if a white person steals, the police

do nothing

but if a black or brown person is stealing

God forbid

arrest them all.

the immigration office

hires all the racists

and they are so mighty and powerful

treading on the weak

there are probably some Klan members there.

one more day of nothing changing

one more day of this stupid world world world whirlled.

I dreamed a dream that someday

people would actually look at each other

instead of turning away and afraid of talking with a minority.

Ignorant racism in the streets

is much better

than academic racism which seeks to destroy the Other!

I dreamed a dream that life could be

so much better than this cold refrigerator

this Puritanical 1950's returning....

I dreamed a dream that I wouldn't read

"The Catcher in the Rye" and think it so true...

I dreamed a dream that life could be

filled with meaning and laughter.

But the fear is so alive

and people are so ashamed

they must all surely believe

what the elite tell them is true, true, true, true, true.

I dreamed a dream that people would

not get such joy out of dividing and hurting.

I dreamed a dream that Britain and America

not hate each other so much,

after all we are so alike...

so full of blunders

we tend away from sheer violence.

 

I dreamed a dream that we could work

together for the common good...

that all our talents could be tied

toward the end that we could agree it

but the bullies come at night

offer you money, women, and endless pleasure

so that nothing can happen fast, fast, fast.

one more day

one more night

fighting hard

without a rest.

one more day.
