Some academics think that all the stages that Western nations have experienced need to be reexperienced by Asian countries. That South Korea needs to go through the Age of Enlightenment in order to create an innovative culture although innovation is not all about the mind, it's also about creativity.
Some academics see secular humanism coming into South Korean culture. I suppose there is some secular humanism. but it is limited.
There is usually alot of restraint when Western Academics talk about South Korea.
Basically, South Koreans are shaped by the forces of Capitalism, Confucianism, and Shamanism. These are the 3 main forces shaping the Korean soul.
Inwardly, South Koreans are known for being hermetic.
