What has happened?

What happened to those beautiful and light
Jewish faces
which light up like candles
illuminate
cherish love and pure feelings
religious overflow
that was so giving to others?

During my darkest times,
it was really Jewish writers
or thinkers
that kept me from slipping
into pure, unadulterated darkness
where everything is permissible
cause no one can see anything.

J.D. Salinger,
Rilke,
Freud,
Susan Sontag,
Nadine Gordimer.

It's true,
the liberals have most away from the Jewish Cause.
It's true
secular humanism has moved away from the Jewish Cause
and despite all the overwhelming contributions of Jews,
what Jews have gotten in cultural acceptance in America
and a Europe that wants to absorb both Muslims and Jews gradually first by getting rid of circumcision.

What has happened to the openness of the Jews?
It is still there
and an infinitely kind, heartfelt generosity,
why not share it?

If the world hates you, that is a good thing.
You are doing something right.
If you stick your neck out,
you might just find out something you didn't know.

Why are Asians so indifferent to the Jews. Asians have gone through much of the same experience as Jews?
-the nice boy next door that the Gentile girl next door does not want to have sex with but wants to have a cultural experience with (dialogue).
-the one willing to work longer to get credit for the employer.
-the one searching for all the latest trends, best restaurants.
- lonely moviegoers searching for meaning, searching for certification.

walk through the streets,
walk through the cities and look at how America was built,
look at where the Irish lived, the Italians lived, The Hispanics lived, the blacks lived or still lived,
look at the movements of people from one time to another...
we are all searching for a home
as Israel is trying to find a home
and literature
is a search for home.
