Where are the men whom I used to look up to?

Bruce Jenner, the decathalon winner, supreme, Greek athlete and gentleman

going through the turnstyle and becoming a woman,

wearing about makeup?

 

I know... it's his choice

but he is not going to use my taxmoney

to get that sex change operation

and his happiness

has made me miserable.

 

You have to look hard to find a role model these days...

genetically construct one

even then

there's malfunction.

 

People come and go and talk endlessly...

silence

(in that space of not saying, violent thoughts creep out

because we know what a rotten deal we've been given.)

chinese words, vietnamese words, moslems who don't want you to look at their faces...

we'll spend our whole lives in libraries, trying to understand other cultures

while they wipe us out, using old tactics we've discarded.

 

that person knows five languages and understands none of them better than me,

let's be envious.

we play these stupid games to make ourselves more stupid,

meanwhile

our kids become spoiled brats and bad-mouthed

just because they don't want to be criticized.

I understand the frustration, from your thoughts, Steve. Definetly, violence can decide the future of our species.
But don't forget, violence and art were never best friends.
Don't count who survives and how, important is the values that remains here, for our children.

you're very perceptive. It's a really frustrating situation. On the one hand, you have the empowered justifying all of their bad behavior. On the other hand, you have minorities justifying all their behavior based on the fact that they've been descriminated against.

I feel sandwiched.

The contact with violence will usually create frustration.

My point is that violence can't be justified, at least deliberate violence, but because it's very deep rooted in our collective behavior I don't think will ever disappear, sadly.

I agree, but if secular humanism and cultural relativism are the dominant themes in American culture, I really don't see why some individuals couldn't conclude that violence is a way of gaining cultural dominance in the culture, and that this dominance would be good for the future of America.

Of course, I am rephrasing a theme from "Crime and Punishment" by Dosteovsky.

This is not a new theme I am referring to in American culture. The Godfather movies, the history of gangster rappers, and many other themes in movies refers back to the first theme of the Founding Fathers, the Enlightenment philosophy which created secular humanism.

I mean, let me clarify what I mean by frustrating.

You have some football athletes getting away with rape and murder. You have some celebrities making porn tapes, then becoming famous, then millionaires. You have Wall Street stock brokers who make billions asking the court what "inside trading" means. I could go on and on and these are empowered people. They've gotten their share and plenty more. Why do they commit crimes then?

My understanding is that, if you have your share or portion of the "pie," then you shouldn't commit crimes.

The people committing crimes from the other side of town believe that they didn't get their share. They were discriminated against or they were dealt the wrong cards.

When I look at it this way, the crimes of poor people look less severe than the crimes or misdemeanors of the rich.

I have to tell you very truthfully, America has become a very tribal country. Ideological tribes and racial tribes. You can hardly say anything anymore. This political correctness is the McCarthyism of the liberals.

WE don't cut off each other's heads, but we literally character assassinate brilliant minds. We can't bear to listen to the Other side. We've closed off our minds. There's no incentive to work hard for America anymore. I can't even figure out what America is anymore.

I am so agree with the general collective illness, sharing a portion of the pie, but there is a weird phenom, each byte you take you become more hungry. I think this is the reason why the steak holders will never leave behind the pie.

Regarding America topic I can't say too much, i lived all my life in Europe, so I don't think getting informed just from mass media will give me the right to talk about this.
