Don't Come Too Close

Don't come too close, you're disturbing me.
Don't interrupt, you're vexing me.
For freedom is only gained in a world of total pain
And I have a masterplan.
Don't come too close, for I am no foolish saint.
Don't hang around for I have years to wait.
As my feelings blink the spaces shrink
And there is no place left to stand.
Don't come too close, I got pain on my mind.
Don't come too close, cos my death warrant's signed.
And there's a certainty within me
Of a Promised Land.
Don't come too close, you're all strangers now.
Don't sympathise, for you know not how.
Just realise you've a better life
And exploit it as best as you can.
Don't come too close, just turn round and go back.
Don't come inside, for I'm about to pack.
And I must now say that the cards were laid
In the wrong person's hand.
Don't come too close, whoever you be.
Don't come too close, whatever you see.
And who on this earth can measure the worth
Of a single faint lifespan?
