The music started, speakers blasting near her head. A wave of smoke and blue lights began to illuminate on the stage. The sound of the first three chords, Minx managed to recognize the song by Ocean’s Blue. Time by time.
The sound of wailing guitars, thundering drums, and electrifying bass. Minx was in a trance, swaying her hips side from side. Her body intuitively telling her how to move. Moving her arms gracefully while nodding her head. She had been mimming the lyrics to the song, forgetting a word or two in the process.
The crowd behind her began to press against her, squishing her against the guardrail. The band was playing, unaware of this. The security yelled “Get back, get back”. She felt the rail shift with her. It sent a shiver in her spine as she realized how sweaty the people behind her were.
The crowd began to calm as the song faded out, before getting rowdier as the song finished. She couldn’t resist screaming and chanting along with them.
The singer addressed the crowd, “Is everyone having a good fucking time?” Then he sipped on his bottle of something.
The crowd got significantly louder, something Minx had become accustomed to.
“Right on!” He yelled into the mic, “Let’s get this party started with Young Monsters!” One of her favorite songs from the band.
She was unfamiliar with the band when it came to names of the band members, but had mighty respect for the banging drummer. She found the men to be attractive but not as attractive as Au Revoir Lips. She was familiar with their singles which seemed to be all that they’re performing.
She noticed the singer looking directly towards her. Minx thought it was some audience trick to make it look like they’re looking at you when in reality it’s just him looking around. However, the singer’s glare became more prominent.
During his performance, he made pointing gestures to Minx, sometimes looking offstage or down towards security down below while doing it. Out of curiosity, Minx began to nod her head and smile towards him.
Couldn’t hurt to pick up some Ocean’s Blue merch as well.
At the end of their performance, a middle-aged security guard leaned in towards her. “Do you want to go backstage?”
She smiled.
“Yes of course! I’d love to!”
