The Green Room
********************
Two days in and you could not be more shattered
We both feel tired
This struggle you are enduring
This labour you are giving
Another night passes into yet another day
With no joy to light our world
This hospital is looking so grey now
Yet we remain strong
Hands embraced, intwinned together
We share a loving stare into each others eyes
These contractions are getting worse
As we enter the fourth day, surely the end is so close
In comes the midwife and surgeon
There is a twist to this tale
Cesearean section!
Complications!
With the medication and pain relief
They take you into the green room
I am outside away from you
Putting on my green suit
I sweat nervously
As they prepare you
They allow me in where I sit with you
Our hands embraced again
As they carry out the surgery
With you feeling everything except pain
How can you endure so much?
I fill with pride and admiration
Its terrifying!
You are so amazing mum!
Then out she comes!
Our daughter so loud!
Once cleaned and weighed she is given to me
Dressed in her new born clothes
Wrapped in our love
Her head mis-shapen from all the struggling
The most beautiful thing I have ever seen
We all cry
A happy family!
Welcome little dandelion
Our eyes lock a knowing stare
As my heart caves in
Love such a wonderful thing!
