The trees and the wind

Adam refused to go to church with her that morning, she had begged him until she cried, but he still refused. He screamed, "I will not go somewhere that I will be judged the moment I walk through the door! None of that is real anyways."
So Lindsay settled, and asked him to go with her somewhere else. Without hesitating, Adam agreed.
She took him away, they pulled off the road, and walked a good distance out into the trees. Then they stopped, and laid down, they had been here many times before. This was the spot with all their memories.
They lay there in the glass beside each other, in complete silence.
Lindsay took his hand in hers, "Tell me you love me, Adam."
Adam gave her an odd look, but said the words, "I love you."
She smiled, and looked around, "This place makes me feel at eases, and comforted."
The wind blew, and the leaves rustled around them. He looked around him, all the green color of life. Spring always brought a happy feeling, especially when they lay there in the grass, surrounded by the beautiful trees, as they did now.
She sighed, "There's a beauty in this place I can't explain. It's almost breath taking."
He smiled and kissed her cheek, "Just like you."
She looked at him with a sadness crossing her face, and she leaned up. The wind blew, and the leaves rustled, and she looked around.
"I should tell you," she said, her voice almost a whisper, "I probably won't be here much longer, Adam."
Adam leaned up. He took a deep breath and looked into the distance, "Are you moving away or something?"
There was an awkward silence, as they sat there, the cool wind blowing their hair, and the birds chirping.
"No," she sighed, "I'm dying."
Adam jumped, and looked straight into her eyes. It was then he saw the hurt in her eyes that he hadn't noticed before, "Dying?"
"Yes, I'm dying." Lindsay began to cry, "I have cancer. I've been dying for months, and they told me I won't live for another six months."
Adam looked around, "Why didn't you tell me before?"
"I thought I had more time."
Adam began to cry, "What will I do without you?"
Lindsay took his hand, "Come here." she looked around, "This will always be our place, no matter what. My love will always be with you, and my comfort will be waiting for you, " she smiled, "Here."
Adam kissed her, "What's it like to know your dying?"
She smiled, "It's different. Every moment is cherished, and every word is well spoken. You think alot more about the things you do, and your life is a lot more meaningful." she squeezed his hand.
"I cherish every moment with you anyway." he smiled.
They looked into each other's eyes, and kissed once more. They sat there the rest of the day, beneath the trees, letting the wind blow, and letting love devour them.
Three months later, Lindsay died. Her funeral was held, and she was buried at a local church next to her family that had gone before her. She had just graduated high school, and was accepted to a local college, she had planned to be a lawyer.
Adam went to their special place, months later. He sat leaning against a tree, looking at where they had laid that night.
Then he looked above, "Hey darling, thought I would stop by to be with you once more. The feeling in this place is the same, but there's something I ought to tell you."
The wind blew, and Adam closed his eyes feeling the comfort.
"I met someone." he sighed, and started to cry, "She reminds me so much of you. And I like her so much."
Tears rolled down his face, "No one in my life will ever replace you! But I can't go through life alone, and lonely! I will always love you, and you will always be a part of me. I will never forget you, my love."
Tears came streaming down his face, and he placed his head in his hands. He wept, the emotion spilling from him like a broken glass.
The wind blew, and he lifted his head, a feeling of comfort rushed over him. His tears dried as he sat there, soaking in the feeling, and soaking in the sight. The place was still the same, still beautiful.
The leaves rustled, and the wind blew as he stood, "I went to church Sunday, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I really enjoyed it, and I felt you there with me." he smiled, "I got saved. And I look forward to seeing you in heaven, and holding your hand as we walk down the streets of gold."
He smiled, "I will always love you."
Adam walked away then, walked back to the road, and back to his vehicle. Leaving the trees, and grass rustling, but carrying the gift of love with him.
Adam lived a long life. He married, and had kids as well. When he died, engraved on his gravestone was the insert, "I will love you all as I did the trees and the wind, blowing our hair as young love went wild."
