April, Age 16
Malon City
I entered the living room of my apartment and saw my friends talking amongst themselves. I didn't want to interrupt them because I knew they were discussing something important.
Gabrielle was the only one that looked up at me but she didn't speak. I didn't expect her too. She had an important duty to handle and so did I.
So I took a seat on my living room couch and sat a stack of papers in my lap. They were notes on the Dark Assassins that I've been using to track them down for so long.
The Dark Assassins are a group of people with powerful magic that use it to cause lots of destruction. They start with destroying cities, then armies, and finally tries to overthrow the entire country. When that's done, they continue on until they take over the entire world.
So far all I've learned is that they first attack most places to show their dominance before wiping out a big chunk of the world. It's like a beast making it's mark on its territory. I don't know their real intentions for doing it, but my guess it's that they want to get rid of everyone without powers and take our land... or something.
There is another side called the Shining Warriors that had originally been put together to keep the Dark Assassins in line. But lately the Shining Warriors haven't been strong enough to stop the Dark Assassins, so they recruited new members to help them. Whenever they sensed powers in a normal person, they'd choose them to help fight against the Dark Assassins. I was one of the ones with powers and I've made my own decision to help them stop the Dark Assassins.
So we, me and my team of six, have been chosen to seek out the Dark Assassins. While the others were in charge of creating strategies before going into battle against them, I am in charge of tracking them down. It's one of my specialties to find people with power. I had used it to track down my big sister once.
But so far I had no luck finding any Dark Assassins and time was running out. They could attack again at any minute. It could be considered a good idea to wait for them to attack and then go after them, but we'd risk too many innocent lives.
None of the people in our city deserves to die. Especially the kids. I'm basically a kid myself, being only sixteen. It would've been easier to give this task to adults, but the Shining Warriors had received a sign that the youth was to save us all.
Didn't look as if that was true so far, but I guess we'd have to give it time for now. If their vision proves to be false, then everyone will suffer because of it. This is a lot of weight to have on teens' shoulders but hopefully it can be removed once all of this is over.
It would be easier dealing with normal teen problems such as dates and school proms. But the world wouldn't work that way forever.
My team came over to me and sat down on the couch and chairs. I could see in their faces that they had already came up with their plans.
I gave them a grim smile. "I got nothing guys. I need more time."
"More time?" Jamal said with a frown. "We gave you more than enough time. We're tired of coming up with all these strategies of fighting when we can't even test them out yet. Are you hiding something from us? You don't want us to find the Dark Assassins do you?"
Cory, our leader, stepped in and waved a hand at him and said. "Take a breath, Jamal."
Jamal scowled as the others laughed. We all knew how he could keep babbling on for hours if we let him.
"He is right though, Evan," Cory said. "We need to make a move and we need to do it fast. The Dark Assassins can strike again at anytime."
"So what do you suppose I do?" I ask with a sigh. "I can't track them down at all. Maybe I can if I had met them once before but I never did."
"Your sister," Gabrielle said. "She was the only one to ever come into contact with them. Maybe you can get her to tell you there whereabouts."
I snickered. "That's a long shot. She hates me so much that she'll never tell me anything."
Gabrielle nodded. "But there's no point in not trying. Besides it's been a couple of months now, it's time you finally see her again."
I nodded back at her and set my notes aside. She was right. I had been distracted by thoughts of my sister, Karinia. I barely got any sleep on some nights while I wondered if she was okay. I had hurt her deeply even though it had been necessary. But I had never forgave myself for it.
"Fine, I'll track her down." I told everyone and they nodded in agreement.
Jamal shook his head. "No way. She could end up setting us up and getting us all killed. The Dark Assassins could be right with her."
I smirked at him. "Well that's what we want, right?"
He started to reply but shrugged and just nodded.
"Good. Now let me get started." I said, shutting my eyes and gathering my powers to seek out my sister. Even if she wasn't ready to face me again, it was a chance that I had to take.

Fits well the with last piece
Fits well the with last piece and it's built up a nice history with his sister that's screaming for a reunion. There's a few typos and tense issues you can pick up on a rewrite. Perhaps a little too much exposition at the start. Looking forward to more.
