A Wave Of Pirates 9) Close To Death

I stopped as I realized that I had no weapons on me. The pirates didn't seem to have any either, but I knew for sure there were some in the house.
Jack had left his shotgun inside the ship so I guess we were both empty handed.
"Jack," I called to him but I guess he didn't hear me. Maybe he was too driven by his rage to notice anything else.
He was getting closer to the pirates so I hurried after him.
When I reached him I grabbed his shoulder.
"We have no weapons." I told him but he shrugged. "They could easily kill you if you just charge at them. Don't be stupid."
"Stupidity is far from my worries, Matt." Jack said in a low voice. "All I care for now is to see them suffer."
I wanted to convince him to stop but I couldn't think of anything to say. He was just too determined now.
I sighed and followed after him, trying to come up with ways of stopping him.
Suddenly, one of the pirates turned to us.
"Well look at what we have here." He said angrily as the other pirates turned to us.
Soon they all had their attention on us. Dozens of angry eyes just glaring as if they couldn't wait to get their hands on us.
I returned the glare, hoping to pose as more of a threat than we appeared.
"You wanted a war, huh?" I heard a familiar voice shout. He made his way to the front of the pirates.
"Harris." I growled. I had not stopped hating him.
"So you remember my name?" He asked. "Good. That way you'll remember the name of the man that's goin' to kill you. You sunk our home and some of our family. There's no way any of you will leave alive after that. But I want you to die first."
"Try me." I said as I stepped toward him.
"Back up everybody." He shouted. "He's mine."
I glanced over my shoulder for Jack but somehow he wasn't there. He had just been here just seconds ago.
I felt a fist cross my jaw and I stumbled over the sand. Harris had hit me and was coming at me again.
He swung at my face and I ducked. I punched his stomach and then upper-cupped him.
He staggered backward to the sand but the pirates caught him.
He shook them off and charged at me. He tackled me to the sand and I fell onto my back.
He punched me across the face again and I winced as pain shot through my head.
I punched him in the ribs but it wasn't hard enough.
He slammed his fist down into my nose and I groaned. He grabbed my throat and began to squeeze tightly.
I shot up my fists and connected with his chin. Then I punched him again in his throat but he maintained his grip on my neck.
I could feel my body growing weak. I grabbed his forearms and tried to tug them away, but ofcourse that didn't work.
Everything around me began to turn red. A dull red as if someone had pulled a red shade over my eyes.
My hands slipped from his forearms and fell limp to my sides.
I heard a faint scream far in the distance followed by a few more. I felt Harris' hands loosen as he turned away for a moment.
That was all the time I needed as I gasped for air. Everything around me returned to its normal color. I reached up and wrapped my hands around his head.
Then I brung him down and smashed his face onto my forehead.
The pain had shocked me but it shocked Harris even more as he slumped to the sand beside me.
I looked over at the house and my eyes widened. Jack held something in his hands as he ran to each of the pirates and used it to attack them. I think they were arrows. Arrows from the previous night that they fired at us.
He stabbed one of the pirates in their eye and then moved to another and stabbed an arrow into their throat.
To my left I saw Henry fighting off the pirates too using someone's knife.
Harris growled and tried to grab me but I rolled away.
I climbed to my feet and kicked Harris hard in the ear. As he fell over I saw blood gushing from his nose. I think I had broken it with my head.
He scrambled to his feet and raised his fists.
I raised mine too and inched toward him. He tried charging at me again but I widened my stance and punched him as hard as I could in his nose.
He screamed and grabbed his nose with his hand. But I wasn't going to stop.
He had brought me so close to death and nearly denied my revenge. There was no way I would slack off now.
I punched him in the nose again and he fell onto his back. It had reminded me of the previous night when I had came close to killing him.
But this time I didn't have a gun and that young man wasn't here to stop me.
I stepped over him and stamped his face with my shoe. He groaned and I continued to stamp his face again and again.
Blood trickled from his mouth as I stamped his teeth down his throat.
I raised my feet to stamp again, but saw someone running to me out the corner of my eye.
I stepped back and they dove right pass me. They landed on their hands and knees and climbed to their feet. The same young man that had rushed to Harris' aid the other night.
Harris coughed and rolled onto his side. Blood trickled down his face and he took in raspy breaths. "Billy... Kick his ass, Billy."
The young man gritted his teeth and nodded. He turned to glared at me. "Sure thing..."
