“My name is Luke Wasser and I’m a DJ not a VJ.” Luke Wasser, DJ
“This isn’t a pop show Luke, it’s a war.” KJ Hapland, Station Manager.
“This is Independent Radio, broadcasting live online to the people of the Big City and anyone else in the big wide world. Playing for you now the biggest band in that world, this is the new single from U2.”
Fucking playlists. My very first words on my very first radio show ruined by the record I was forced to play. Fucking Bono.
We’re fighting for freedom KJ would say a few months later, during what she calls the Radio War, yet where was my freedom? “You have to play U2, it’s playlisted,” she tells me. Fascist cunt.
Anyway, this is my account of what KJ refers to as the Radio War, but which I just call That War That Went on While I was Just Trying to PLAY SOME FUCKING MUSIC.
If you don’t like the story (hey I never said I was a writer) then this much I promise you; the soundtrack is fucking awesome.
