I said these words to my wife last night:
“You’re easy to be with,” I said. “I might as well be alone.”
By which I don’t mean that my wife is poor company, with no conversation, contact, affection, I just mean that I can be 100% be myself in her company, no masking.

Having struggled myself in
Having struggled myself in any kind of cohabiting relationship (and as an autistic person, too), I get this. You're a lucky man. My attempts - even my marriage to a woman who meant so much to me - were all unqualified disasters, leaving lots of emotional wreckage behind. My marriage, sadly, came long before my diagnosis. It might have helped. I'll never know. I live alone now out of choice. That doesn't mean I surrender all hope of meeting that one person I can be 100% myself with.
