Morning Kit,” said Mrs Wemborne. “I see that Sally’s got you cycling now, is this part of a fitness drive? It’s nice she’s taking care of you.”
“Morning Mrs Wemborne, what’s this about an invisible tortoise?”
“It’s Speedy, he’s turned invisible.”
“You called your tortoise Speedy?
“Yes, he’s the fastest tortoise on the planet. He won the tortoise Olympics you know.”
“I see,” said Kit. Mrs Wemborne was prone to exaggeration. “And Speedy has turned invisible?”
“Yes, on Wednesday I could see him running around the garden then then when I woke up Thursday morning I could no longer see him.”
“Where is Speedy now?”
“I’ve no idea, I can’t see him.”
“So how can you be sure he’s invisible. He might just be missing?”
“Oh, I hadn’t thought of that. You can see why you’re the detective. You think he might have been kidnapped by rival Olympian tortoise breeders?”
“That’s possible,” said Kit. “Or he might just have walked off. Have you actually looked for him?”
“No, I thought he was invisible, there seemed no point.”
Kim was relieved to hear his phone ring. “Sorry Mrs Wemborne, it’s Harkaway, I have to go. I’ll put the message out about Speedy. I’m sure he’ll turn up.”
“Thank goodness you phoned, Harkaway,” said Kit. “Mrs Wemborne’s got some mad conspiracy about Olympic tortoise thieves. What is it?”
“It’s Mr Griffiths.”
“The man who’s being followed by a penguin.”
“Yes Kit, only no, he’s no longer being followed. He’s no longer being anything. He’s been murdered.”

The last line made me laugh a lot. The characters names are ace and the invisible fast tortoise, well how do you prove it's not fast or doesn't exist?
