Hraal is in an office. He doesn’t recognise the place, but it looks a high-value place, probably one of the bio-tech offices.

His thoughts are confirmed by the appearance of the person he is with, clearly an inferior, but one who barely bows before him, hardly even bothers to avert his gaze. Yes, this is exactly how the wealthy bio-tech millionaires behave. They know they’re too important to be punished. Their’s is a new form of power, one that bodes ill for the days of kings.

“Take a seat your highness,” the man says.”

Hraal sits.

“I have spoken to your mother,” the man says. “There is a plot to kill you. An attempt was made on your life.”

“I fear no plotters,” Hraal said.

“Of course. But they came close I am told. And it is a sensitive time, two years before you are of age, until you become a full king.”

“They plot to take my kingdom, yes.”

“And your mother wants you to go away. To the Earth.”

“This is what she says. I think it is madness, but it would be difficult to stay if she would rid of me. Is it even possible though? It is so far away. So different.”

“There is a method of reaching Earth. A hole in the space-time continuum. It is how we know so much about the planet.”

“And you can turn me into a human?” he says. You can make me into a Nudie, he doesn’t say.

“Indeed. Let me explain the process. The machine we shall place you in is a Enzymerscope. It scans you body and changes the enzymes to match those of an Earth human.”

“It changes the enzymes?”

“Very much like the process a tadpole goes through as it becomes a frog, it is the enzymes in the cells that change. Except the cells are directed by our computers, so we are able to change them any way we like, even into another species..”

“Will it take long?”

“Not long, a matter of minutes. Every cell receives the same message you see, and as a result your entire body will change. It is a highly efficient process.”

“Will it hurt?”

“There is no pain as such. Your cells are being manipulated not forced, but you will feel drained, as if every single cell in your body has been on a serious workout.”

“The main side effect, however,” the bioscientist continued, “is that you will have no memory. Your brain cells are also changed, into those of a human. You will lose all recollection of this world. You will forget who you are, you will become the human you change into.”

“How will I manage? I know nothing of human ways?”

“Our man will place you there. You will move in with a family, your body will begin as that of a human child.”

“Your man?”

“Yes, he travels constantly between the two worlds, he is an expert on all things related to the Earth. Ynnool” (he calls to his secretary) “send the Conduit in.”
