An Empty Bed

Alone now, I awake to find you gone.
The duvet left, an envelope opened
with you a letter taken out and read.
I roll over and remember.
You leave me like the dregs in the bottom of your glass.
Flat, uninviting, alone.
You leave me to rot like an apple core devoured
until only the natural bones are left.
Once so round and full.
now thin and bitten,
all the goodness has been taken.
Anger struck me like a match,
suddenly there, fierce and glowing.
Unable to ignite this dried up bed I lie in.
I turn burning in your dust,
to become forgotten ashes of a letter you once read.

Some great imagery
Some great imagery here,
esp. like:
'You leave me to rot like an apple core devoured
until only the natural bones are left.'
