Cadet.

I was discussing this week at work about two people I’d heard about who died. The first person was an old gentleman who with his Wife in their car, had ran into a man’s car who I know, and the old Man died at the scene! The other person was a young man called Cadet, I’d never heard of him, he was in a taxi on his way to sing at Leek University, he never made it! He was twenty-eight years old.
The colleague who I was talking with said, “Two weeks ago Cadet came to my daughters work place for a meal and she had a selfie with him,” And she showed me the photo of them both. I said, “Did she know who he was?” She said, “Yes.” I then said, “And yet he didn’t know that two weeks later he would be dead.” Nor did that older Man who died at the wheel of his car, he didn’t know when he took that journey with his Wife that it would be his final journey and that he’d die at the wheel, maybe he had a heart attack, I just don’t know.
Sophie who I work with then said, to me, “Would you like to know the day of your death?” I replied, “That’s a very good question, then having given it some thought I said, “If it was nine years from now yes, but as it came closer, I’d be worried but if I was told it was nine days away, I wouldn’t want to know.” Sophie said, “I would want to know,” It’s funny how different people are. Then we went on to talk about Wills.
I said to Sophie, “I’ve done a Will, but in April I need to up date it, as for many years I’ve been paying the Company £20 to keep it, so I want to up date it and remove it from the Company and I’ve been told, I’m to keep it in my home and tell people where it is.” Sophie then told me she had made a Will and her Husband too and that they all know where it is in the house,” I said, “Your Kids know where it is?” She replied, “Yes.” I went on, “The strange thing is, I know I want to update my Will, but really I should do it now and not wait for April to get here, why don’t I just do it tomorrow and get it over and done with, what would happen I said to Sophie if I past away before I’d updated it, it would be out of date!” My Husband hasn’t done a Will the Man said, when he came to our home to set it up my Will, “A lot of Men don’t like to do Wills,” As my Husband sat there silently looking at him.
“So, how about You? Have you done a Will? And would You like to know the day of you Death?”
RIP to both Men.
