I was surprised I slept so well on the camp bed. I pulled back the sleeping bag that was still over my head and saw just how light it was in the tent. I needed to know if I had whiplash was I able to move? Would I be in pain? I was facing the wall of the tent, and reached down to look at the time, it was late 5am, no one was moving I gently lifted my head and looked across the tent I could see Lydia on her high bed with her kids on the floor next to her on their various mats. I didn’t want to wake MP so I daren’t move to look behind me where she was. I reflected on yesterday, the long journey, the car accident, I got my little diary out that was in my bag of which I had two, one had in it, chargers in for my mobile, and watch, yes watch for I’d treated myself for my birthday I wanted a posh pedometer and had given a friend at work the money to buy a watch just like hers, it was synchronised to my mobile, also in my one bag was two fully charged batteries, both claim to be able to charge my mobile phone twice, so in my reckoning I should have plenty of power to last me till I get back home, Bank Holiday Monday. In my navy triangle shaped soft leather rucksack, I had money, wipes, mobile, hand sanitizers, lipstick mirror and more.
In the mornings I hate wasting time, so as not to waste time, I said a prayer in my head, then I wrote in my little diary, one that I’d bought for Saturday, Sunday and Monday, then I charged my mobile, so I’d be ready for the day. Then I just chilled, I was on holiday after all and at a music festival and would be seeing Elevation Worship later. But there was something that was getting on my last nerve, a baby was crying none stop! That’s what had woken me up, how could the others sleep through all that noise? But sleep they seem to be, all of them.
What seemed like hours later the others slowly woke up, and they all mentioned the baby crying, I really hoped this noise from the baby wouldn’t happen every morning. We came out of the tent and was very surprised to see we were surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of tents, all different sizes, the man with the crying baby was there and the baby was still crying! I decided to go to the loo the kids came with me it was quite a way and we joined the small queue. when we returned MP, Lydia, Blue and Marty were all in the final process of unpegging the large six-man tent we were just in time to help them carry it one hundred yards away from the baby! It was a perfect spot, there was a decent amount of space opposite and the other six-man tent was set up with my large oblong table between them.
One of the things on my list was to buy the large disposable barbecue, MP set it alight and I asked, “Do you want me to take out my sausages and bacon from my cooler bag?” It was then Lydia said, “I too have brought sausages and bacon,” And MP said sheepishly, “So have I.” Over the long weekend, we realized we three had put on our lists of food what the other person was asked to bring so there was three lots of everything! Three lots of bread, butter, ketchup, honey, chocolate, milk, tea, coffee, sugar, easily enough to feed a small army! There was three lots of loo paper, kitchen roll, foil, sandwich bags, wipes, bottles of waters, the supply went on and on. Thankfully too there were ‘unique’ things that we three bought and no one else brought with them, I said at MP’s home, “I’ll bring Jamaican Ginger and custard,” And I did, Lydia brought, things that her children love and so did MP.
The first thing that we did, was to get the kettle on! We Mums wanted our first cupper, I had let them know at the meeting, “I collect small flasks of all sizes and I will bring them for anyone who wants to use either to drink from them, there and then or to use for the day, either for hot or cold drinks.” Only Elijah and myself used them, for me it was like a comfort, home from home, as I take various ones to work, for one week, this is my favourite, little beaker flask, then it changes and another one is. I bought my sweet Carnation milk in its squeezy container, killing two birds with one stone, milk and sugar together. Young Elijah loved it SO much I caught him putting it straight into his mouth, and I told him, “Not to do it again,” With a smile. His Mums eyebrows was as high as she could get, as she looked at him.
The sausages went on the barbecue and the bacon later on, the mushrooms, tomatoes and eggs went in the frying pan, the baked beans in another pan and the toast went straight onto the barbecue, it helped that Pro-camper Lydia had her two ringed cooker. I sat with the kids, in a sort of blank staring way as the lovely food was cooked, we buttered our own toast, put our own various sauces on, yes mine was salad cream, as at the moment I just can’t get enough of it, someone actually brought low fat salad cream, boo but I used my own and plenty of it want on, I sat down and it was the most wonderful breakfast I’d ever had! Honestly, nothing at that moment could compare to it. We were in no hurry, there was no school, no school run, no work, no timetable, just bliss. I savoured every delicious mouthful, yet I still couldn’t figure out why I was SO blank and not helpful that first morning for breakfast. Later on, I realized, it’s because I was in the car accident the day before. My neck did hurt and I ached a little bit all over. I took some painkillers, so they could go around my body and to their thing, so that I would be OK.
Everything was for sharing, but I made it clear to all, “I have a pack of six Lucozade and they are all for me.” Another shot of ‘comfort’, if I were to feel in need of energy or strength for whatever reason. MP’s Son Elijah who was the eldest of the three children with us, he said, to me, “I’ve never tasted Lucozade, what does it taste like?” I said, “It tastes like Lucozade.” He asked me this each time he saw me drinking one, then about the forth time he asked me, as we all sat around the table, instead of me saying, “It taste like Lucozade,” I slowly opened the bottle and as I put it to my mouth and took a swig, with my head back, eyes closed and I made the sounds of a woman groaning in sexual passion, this tickled me and Blue too, I’m not sure what his Mum thought or Lydia, then I said to him, “When you get back home, buy some with your pocket money.” I’d made my point, and he didn’t ask again.

Lovely image of friends
Lovely image of friends enjoying food and drink together. I'm not sure I shall ever look at Lucozade in the same way again!
I hope this comment stays put - I know you've been affected by the mysterious loss of comments on the site, so fingers crossed it won't happen with this one!

No, by no means just yours.
No, by no means just yours. It seems that virtually all the work posted in July has been affected. But here's hoping it was just a glitch.
