It Was A Day....

I was at work and was sent out in the works van, it would be fifty miles to get there, I always love this particular journey, as I could enjoy my music and the views along the way. It was sunny and warm, just how I like it, I was now on the stretch of road where I could drive at 70mph and then it happened! A teenage looking bunny suddenly appeared, it wasn’t a baby or an adult, it paused and was about a yard away from the side of the road it was about two yards in front of me, there was nothing I could do it all happened SO fast, I felt my large tire hit it, if I hadn’t seen it I am sure I wouldn’t have noticed the little thud! I quickly looked in my rear view mirror and what I saw horrified me, half of the rabbit had disappeared! There was only half of it, the back half, I was mortified! I felt sickened to my stomach! I couldn’t swerve to the right, I had no time, and if I did I would have caused a massive accident probably killing myself and others! It was a day I always hoped would never happen, and sadly now it had. I got to my destination, still shaken, but didn’t think it was right to tell anyone, as I didn’t want to hear anything negative, I don’t think I could have coped with it.
A short time later I made my journey back to work, and on the way saw many various animals that didn’t make it home, they too were killed at the side of the road! Some were a lot bigger than my teen bunny, so as bad as I still felt I knew it couldn’t be avoided, for others too had done the same.
Later on that day the news was of a father at the side of the road, he was strapping his child into the car seat when he was hit and killed!!!! It put my little bunny into perspective, for as bad as I’d felt, and for the bunny, I can’t imagine how his family or the driver of the car felt!
R.I.P.

Unavoidable driving hazards
Unavoidable driving hazards can be rough on the head. I know. But that poor man . . .
