My Daughter ......

My Daughter saved up for her ticket but she was too young to go on her own; so she saved up for my ticket too. I didn’t really want to go, as I got better things to do and she had already seen them in concert twice. She has lots of posters of them in her room and has already had T-shirts with their names on.
It was to be in Leicester, where that was I didn’t know, thank goodness for Sat Navs! I had to book the day off work as it was in the week, and Meghan had a day off school .... I didn’t approve of that but she wanted to see the band before the concert, like a sort of meet and greet and her friend that she had never met, she was coming over from Ireland for the first time to the UK she’d met the band many times before; they’d spoken many times through the social media. I’d thought we were leaving the house at midday, but to my horror she wanted to BE there at twelve! I told her, “No way!”
As our kids don’t have days off from school I didn’t mind this as a one-off. I never missed a day from school, unless I was ill! It’s the same with our kids, and if any child does not go to school, the parents are sent a text at 11.00am Parents also get a text if their child is late for school.
Part One.
So we arrived at 1.00pm Meghan was informed by her Irish friend Kay that she was, “Round the back by the stage door.” I thought she was brave to go to another Country on her own, at such a young age, although her Mum had come over with her but she was many miles away, also in the UK.... (long story)
Others gradually gathered, from various different countries, for they spoke in their groups different languages, I recognized Germany, and I saw the Swedish flags and heard the lovely Irish accent.
The excitement was in the air and other Parents were there too for the younger teens. I walked into the Town and look around the charity shops and of course I bought a Big Mac and Medium fries, for I had hours to kill, as I’d left Meghan and Kay at the stage door for the concert wasn’t until 7.30pm and I knew she wasn’t on her own for all there had gathered to meet the group and that’s what they had in common, for they were like one big family! Meghan stayed with Kay though. I’d brought her back a Mac Chicken and fries, she wasn’t hungry but I insist she eat it, she eventually did.
When a coach arrived there were screams, but the coach didn’t come round the back but it went around the front! The (silly) security people told the crowd, “They have arrived, and have gone through the front doors, they won’t be coming this way.” I said to Meghan, “Let’s go round the front,” Meghan said, “No Kay said they will be here at the back,” so I stayed too. Then the Security people put barriers up so the fans were on opposite sides of each other with a path leading up to the back stage doors, I didn’t go behind the barrier I stood by the back door, camera ready. But what was I expecting though? Many fans had bought the band gifts, beautifully wrapped in bright coloured gift bags. But what DO you buy millionaires? What??
Then suddenly and without warning, the band came outside to their devoted fans! It was SO unreal; I started taking photos, immediately, lots of them for Meghan. The lads would take the camera from the fan and take a photo of them both as they stood next to him. They did this over and over and over again and again and again, it was an amazing sight!! I was so close to one of them I could have touched him if I wanted to. It truly was a day to remember. The band must have stayed outside for a good fifteen minutes, they signed autographs and were loaded down with gifts. Then they went inside, to do the sound checks, and get ready for concert tonight.
Some wondered who their supporting acts would be, some said there wasn’t one, but surely they couldn’t sing from 7.30pm till 10.00pm! We went into the foyer and sat down and waited for the doors to open and others too, in their various groups chatted excitedly, some were on their mobiles sharing photos already, that they had just taken and putting it as their status and on their social media sites.
Part Two.
Then the doors open and the fans rushed in the large room was not full but more than half full, Kay was three seats from the front her other Irish friend wasn’t able to make it at the very last minute so Meghan sat next to her while I sat in my seat four rows behind them, which was still close to the front.
The band was energetic and as always gave 110% even the Parents some sang along to the songs, I didn’t, I stayed seated but still had a good view for most had left their seats and had gone to the front of the stage.
SO what made this band different from the average group? It’s more personal, they not only had the meet and greet at the Stage Door but they then after they were sweaty took a small and “Expensive towel” and put it on their faces and threw it into the crowd! Then opening a bottle of water another took a sip and threw that into the crowd too! It’s not my cup of tea, but I was pleased for who had caught the items.
After the fifteen minute break. And about thirty minutes before the end, they then read out the many posters that the fans had made, for them. How cool is that. It was a fantastic night I was so pleased for Meghan and the other fans. I’d decided to go by car and had parked opposite the venue, just in case it had ended late and it would have been awful if we had come by train and then missed it! Kay’s Mum had pre planned to meet her at the end at the front of the building, so when I knew she was safe with her Mum we went to our car.
Part Three.
Would you believe it, Meghan said the very next day; she wants to go to another of their concerts, this year! I told her, “That isn’t going to happen,” I was more than a bit annoyed! I told her she was “Ungrateful” I’d put myself out for her and she dared to say that the next day!!!!! Her reply was, “I am obsessed.”
I like them for they are the Underdogs..... and have always liked them, they are just like Marmite you either hate them or you don’t!
Part Four.
Then yesterday she said, “Is Cardiff far?” I told her, “It’s in Wales, so yes it’s far.” I asked her, “Why?” and she said, “A Twitter Member can’t go to a Jedward concert and is giving it away free” I told, “No, you saw them a few days ago on Wednesday!” She was relentless and as I was at work yesterday she bombarded me with, “Please, please, please, please ..... texts. Her stupid pleas, was enough to make me hate Jedward!!!!! But I can’t hate them! It’s not their fault. She begged some more until late last night!!!
This morning, 04.30am she woke us all up, when she came downstairs, the light on the landing woke me up I was SO tired I’d set my alarm for 06.30am so Paul wasn’t going downstairs so I eventually went, she had her mobile in her hands I asked her, “What’s she doing?” She replied, she “Couldn’t sleep,” I told her to, “Go to bed!”
She was horrible this morning before she went to school, and later text me to say “Next time she is going!”
No, she isn’t!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
