Zach Williams, Chain Breaker, Live from Harding Prison. When I first heard this song Chain Breaker, I loved it but when I realized there was a live version from a prison I was intrigued and watched it all and the other video made at the same time called, No Longer Slaves, both videos each time I watch them, they makes me cry.
I’ve watched these two videos many times, and I look at the men’s faces, and wonder what they as individuals are thinking. Throughout recent history evil people have gone to jail and some have found ‘religion,’ like it’s going to get them out sooner for good behaviour usually all it does, it makes the victim’s family angry.
But why does the video make me cry? Everyone in the World has made a mistake, admittedly their crimes are more extreme than yours or mine, I know nothing about Harding prison, if they are for petty crimes or harden killers. I watch them raise their hands in praise to God, now forgiven of their sins, and I have to also think, how many thought it would make a difference if they were Born Again?
I try to get a look at the prison guards around the room, they know the real them when the cameras are not on them, I actually feel sorry for the men there in that room, not envious that they have a free concert from an amazing singer like Zach Williams, for when Zach and his band had gone, they will go back to their cells and be locked up, with their own personal thoughts.
These men, they are someone’s grandad, uncle, brother, nephew, son, they have all been given a second chance to Life, in their Spirits and Souls with the free Gift of Salvation. The ‘chains,’ that bound them binds them no longer and they are no longer slaves (to sin).
Really, it’s a perfect example of the meaning of both the songs. They are summed up wonderfully.
Now they might be redeemed and forgiven by the God of Heaven, but I wouldn’t like to know what they did, to get them in prison, for I’m sure I’d not cry for any of them if I knew, but I’m not the Final Judge, it is His Judgement, that matters, and if He is willing to forgive them their sins, whatever it is, then who am I to argue?
Please now watch both videos on YouTube and let me know what you think.

Thank you for highlighting this. I had to google the lyrics as I find it difficult to pick up all the words just listening!
Though some might just 'find religion' or think it will forward their release to say so and maybe just pretend and act (many hypocrites outside too!), there are some thankfully with time to think in prision who have definitely found the Saviour, and are truly sorry for both the 'big sins' and those we are all guilty of, of neglecting God, and 'ordinary' selfishness and tempers. When that happens it doesn't make them try to 'get out' of allotted punishment, and I think they just pray for some usefulness. There are many people who sacrificially spend time visiting and helping such as they seek to get to know the scriptures and know their Saviour. Rhiannon
