Aunty Annie's Bible study sessions

We met at a normal conventional Bible study I was a visitor. I was treated well by the young people and felt welcome. Mary-Anne was apparently more of a guest speaker. These were enthusiastic healthy kids I must say I appreciated the company. She happened to have the same kind of spiritual difficulties as me, of curiosity I spoke to her afterwards.
She had a good knowledge of the ailments of astral projection etc. and whatnot such as disturbing sleep visions and terrors of night.
Mary-Anne strongly recommended that I consult Auntie Annie who she knew well, because I obviously had some serious spiritual problems that needed to be seen to urgently, and she assured me that Aunty Annie was up to
the job.
So first I called this woman and she was indeed very keen on helping. She had half my story there and then over the telephone line followed by some vigorous praying. It was convenient I thought, right there on the telephone and she prayed convincingly enough. I thought yes this was nice I like it and duly was knocking at her door.

One could see it was an ordinary good middle-class Afrikaans home, all felt quite descent and familiar. A happy and balanced family. I was friendly welcomed and we were seated in the neat spacious comfortable living room.
The diagnoses was a number of formidable evil spirits including the knowledge demon the demon of disbelief the demon of deception the batman-demon superman-demon jesus-demon and the demon of the astral plane. This all was at the root of all my evil.
She was very energetic indeed with the praying although she never spoke to God as far as I could remember she was just addressing the demons very straight and fearlessly in spite of the grave peril. It was getting better and better swearing at the demons commanding them with great authority she carried on and on with furious intensity.

Aunty Annie's family as well as Mary-Anne were members of a very conservative and sober Protestant Church here by us. Calvinistic, of Dutch-German origin. The church and this congregation too has total integrity. The creed is very near to the Methodists, very respected very solid.
But this was a private show.

The treatment consisted of driving these demons all out and “to farthest outer space and to never never ever ever return” they were banished forever and for ever to the very very ends of the universe and beyond to the deepest darkest voids and never to return again.
She was swearing those demons and instructed them on authority to leave me and let me go. The actual wording of the prayers was that simple, and very very repetitive and I can't remember her mentioning God at all. The session actually lasted very long repeating and repeating the curses mine was a severe case they were tough little bastards.
When I was done and thankfully leaving this holy house I asked her am I now cured? She assured me very confidently, yes, they can never return.
On arriving home, very tired (I was always tired in those days- not sarcasm) I fell asleep on the small bunker bed and was plagued again immediately by those same horrible little guys.
Fortunately, when Auntie Annie heard she wasn't disappointed at all.

So that it happened that I became a regular visitor at Auntie Annie's Bible study sessions. She was in demand she had of course a busy schedule but it was thought I should attend with Mary-Anne's group and then I could get a lift as well. There was a young woman I knew from engineering days she was very good looking and some others I don't know the one guy was a pharmacist I don't think he minded me that much.
The studies themselves didn't involve much Bible stuff I think there was some or other manual I probably wasn't paying attention I wouldn't know.
Hell they were carrying on there believe me. Anything you can think of was of the devil namit the cartoons on TV, the TV itself blaring in the next room, Rock music Simba chips Stoney ginger beer rice-crispies and on and on. In a manner dismissed by a "Oh yes. That is from the devil". And of course anything at all that had the least to do with this mysterious New-Age cult business, which itself was orchestrated personally by the antichrist. The devil apparently is very creative.
Once she was reading from the manual and she told what great powers Adam had in paradise, before the fall. He had given names to all the animals and the plants all and each one, he was supreme ruler of the Earth from the depths of the sea to the whole sky he was the king nature and paradise was his domain.
I remarked that he sounds like an unbelievably powerful man it sounds more impressive even than Jesus himself. She explained that I must remember that Jesus came in the form of the fallen man and only regained his powers after the Resurrection. This was really quite novel I mean Jesus is God.
Nelson Mandela himself had been on TV very regularly this was around the change of government. We were told Mandela was basically rubbing shoulders with the likes of the Antichrist and even Lucifer himself.
Once I told of how I noticed in falling asleep how my thought stream becomes more and more loose and incoherent. They were shocked. They'd never heard of anything like this. In my pleasant easy free association I was unknowingly victim of merciless demonic onslaughts.
The exorcisms themselves were held in private. Well I felt once was enough considering the woman's authority. I don't know but I wasn't asked again.
However I was very pleased by the fact that I was allowed to excuse myself once or twice or so during a show for a smoke outside, chuckling a bit now and then I had to admit this all was very amusing but kept it to myself.
Sadly I showed very little progress.

Eventually I think they gave up hope on me. One bright spark must just have realised out of the blue that Tommy cannot be cured of his devils because he was the devil himself. And so the devil was finally banished from Bible studies to the outer darkness never to return and balance and peace was restored once more.

Many years later I asked a medical specialist about these astral projections and night terrors and vivid nightmares because I'd read of narcolepsy and sleep paralysis. He told me that narcolepsy was something entirely different and problems I had had are usually more related to (even common legal) chemical substances. Well it all did stop, long ago already, and I'm very grateful. I think that it could be it's also something that one outgrows. It's got nothing to do with the devil.

I was much more concerned for Mary-Anne she had to have a session each time in the evening after the studies and each time afterwards coming out she was crying terribly, uncontrollably. She couldn't be comforted.
I still do not know why she was so why she cried like that I don't know what the problem was but I knew she was at the wrong place for help. This wasn't my business. She'd gotten married in the meanwhile- a good reliable husband with a regular income. Stable and secure. He was a computer programmer he loved her that was good.

Much later on I was told by Auntie Annie she was now neighbours they'd bought a house in the same street. Hell I don't know doesn't sound good.
That whole bunch had left their church and moved to one of the two sister churches. The reason for this was the acceptance of the church of the Belhar confession which was apparently to be a terrible thing of deception and wickedness.
I wonder if any of them ever read it for fear of corrupting their own
minds also.
