Blog Post- Which sentence types produce better writing?

I am in the process of beginning to write a fictional romance novel.
An excerpt of this novel is a previous 'short story' submission which I have submitted to this site- entitled The Sitting Lady (see short stories-romance).
I have already designed a basic plot structure for my entire novel- which will be considerably longer and include the necessary climax, denounement and ending.
I am unsure of the exact intended word length of the manuscript at this stage.
However, as I have finished my last year of high school and have time on my hands I have decided to focus on using this time efficiently to produce a manuscript of the entire novel in about two to three weeks.
The reason for this short time frame is that I am very eager to explore online publishing options for my novel and actually publish it well before I go to Uni next year (don't want the project to drag on to the middle of the year when I am more busy as it probably won't get done).
I am not interested in making a huge amount of money from my first novel- would be great if it happened- but more interested in having a published novel to my name as something- an achievement- that I can attach my writing portfolio for both my own sense of achievement and to showcase my worth for future opportunities in the future. So basically- just want to get the novel published for the reasons listed above, and hopefully building an audience for future novels/writing projects.
I am currently reviewing the 500 or so words that I have written in over one day, and had a question to pose to this writing community.
In romance novels, is it better to structure your novel in a basic 'him and her' introduction of the protagonists, or can it be a little mysterious and cryptic, with elements of their lifestyle together embedded in things such as figurative language (e.g. he had a coat as black as night is introduced before his eye colour. Or he is given a name but no other essential characteristics until say page 9)?
Feedback would be greatly appreciated :)
Thank- you

Heads Up Victoria
Victoria, if this is meant to really be a blog - and I guess it is given its heading - then you have the option of posting it as a 'proper' blog. Look in your options 'What Would You Like To Write' and you'll see a 'write on my blog' option. If you use that for this post it will appear on everyone's front page under the 'blog' heading. It will get more attention than having it on your stories page.
I hope that helps.
