Searching for a daemon on a cloudy summer day
‘Cause life gets awfully lonely in the lighthouse on the bay.
Visions bleed into my brain and I’m desperate for a dream.
The sun dies in the murky sky as my heart rips at the seams.
The view gets awfully lonely from the lighthouse.
Drunken angels circle overhead.
We’re caught halfway between two gods and a devil
With friendly daemons sprawled across the bed.
Strolling down the cobblestone, lightning running down our spines.
The angels’ pearly screen doors clattering in the breeze.
Sunset tangled in our hair and oceans in our eyes.
Weaving a noose for Leviticus in the shade of willow trees.
The view gets awfully lonely from the lighthouse.
Drunken angels circle overhead.
We’re caught halfway between two gods and a devil
With friendly daemons sprawled across the bed.
Summer sun is on your skin but winter’s on my mind.
Photographs and epitaphs drift in and out on the tide.
Limbs and cloud dance in the sky to strains of Ravi Shankar.
Porcupines are singing songs about finding death in a car.
Melting into each other’s hearts on a hillside in the night.
Under purple skies and spastic stars that radiate pink and blue.
Straight down the middle of no-man's-land pierced by bullets from both sides,
Heart keeps bleeding, oozing, squeezing, screaming out the truth.
The view gets awfully lonely from the lighthouse.
Drunken angels circle overhead.
We’re caught halfway between two gods and a devil
With friendly daemons sprawled across the bed.
