He was wearing a painfully pressed suit.
His pants were creased so firmly that they could draw blood.
We met on an upper west side sidewalk
Across the street from a fast food place,
The kind that spreads like a fatty, grease-leaking cancer
Metastasising to the brains and arteries of the public.
We talked about dead friends as we walked into oncoming traffic
While Merlin rapped his knuckles on frozen butterflies
And presidential embezzlement took place fifty floors up.
We strolled past four bums to spend a hundred dollars on a microbial lunch.
I watched California shattering on the TV screens in his eyes.
Eyes that drove CEOs mad in jungles wth cocainish frenzy.
He was flung from his penthouse window during an apathetically passionate orgy;
Stage diving onto his heroin-bloated head
While I was watching a cockfight in the basement of a convenience shore
And tearing up fifty dollar bils in frustration.
Now he works in the cancer,
Licking his teeth whenever I walk by.
