The Magician's House

Many centuries ago, in a far distant land a magician called Balthavar abducted a beautiful, young princess named Nepthalie and pouring potion upon her from a silver watering can turned her into a white rose before planting her in the middle of his garden.
Fortunately the princess had three loyal and loving brothers called Elden; Midlun and Yungrun and Elden, who was the oldest of the three brothers, said to their parents,
"Don't worry, I have a magic sword and so I will travel to the magician, Balthavar's house; save our beloved sister and bring her safely home".
And, getting upon his jet black stallion, he rode to where the magicians house was in the deep, dark forest and, entering the house, he found himself in a room with a golden gong.
But then, seeing him, the gong began to tremble just as if it had been struck by a mallet and, when it did; his hair and skin becoming grey, the brother began turning to stone.
As he was turning to stone however, the brother, dropping his magic sword, clattering, upon the floor, put his hands over his ears.
"So that whoever sees me shall know", he thought, "I died from hearing".
But then, when the eldest brother did not return with their sister, the second eldest brother, Midlun, said to their parents,
"Don't worry. I too have a magic weapon; a magic shield and so I will go and rescue my eldest brother and our sister and bring them both safely home".
And, getting upon his bronze coloured stallion, the second eldest brother rode to the Magicians house in the deep, dark forest and when he entered the house, he too found himself in the room with the golden gong but, seeing his eldest brother turned to stone but covering his ears, Middlun covered his ears too and so, when the magic gong began to tremble, Middlun was not turned to stone.
Instead he went forwards into a second room that had a silver candle in it but then the candle flashed as bright as a star in the night and, seeing it flash, Middlun began turning into stone just as his brother had.
As he was turning to stone, however, Middlun dropped his magic shield, clattering, upon the floor and put his hands over his eyes.
"So that whoever sees me shall know", he thought aloud, "I died from seeing".
But then, when he did not return with the eldest brother and their sister, Youngrun, the youngest of the three said to their parents,
"Don't worry. Though I do not have a magic sword or a magic shield like my brothers, I have courage and good sense and I will go and rescue my two brothers and our sister and I will bring them all safely home".
Then he travelled, the same as his two brothers had, upon a white stallion, to the house of the magician in the deep, dark forest and, when he entered the magicians house, he too found himself in the room with the golden gong but then, seeing his eldest brother turned to stone but covering his ears, he too covered his ears and so, when the magic gong started to tremble he didn't turn to stone.
Then, seeing his eldest brothers magic sword upon the floor, he picked it up and just like his second eldest brother, Youngrun went forward into the second room that had the silver candle in it but, seeing his brother turned to stone and covering his eyes, covered his own eyes and so when the magic candle flashed as bright as a star he was not turned into stone.
Instead, when he uncovered his eyes, he saw his second brothers magic shield and, picking it up he went forwards into a third room and in this room was the garden where his sister, who had been turned into a white rose, was planted.
"Sister!", he called out looking round about for her, "Where are you?".
"I am here", said a white rose that was blooming nearby.
Youngrun looked at the rose, stupefied.
"But how do I turn you back from a rose into a human?", he asked.
The rose pointed a green petal towards a silver watering can that was lying nearby.
"The magician turned me into a rose with that watering can", she said, "Perhaps watering me again will turn me back".
And so Youngrun, picking up the watering can, poured a purple potion from it over the rose that was his sister.
But then, as he was watering the rose, suddenly the magician appeared behind him and so, putting down the watering can, Youngrun drew his eldest brother Elden's magic sword and raised his second eldest brother Midlun's magic shield.
"Tell me how you would prefer to die, boy", asked the magician, "By fire or by lightning?".
"By neither", replied Youngrun, "I would prefer to live".
"You do not have that option, I'm afraid", said the magician and, saying that he pointed his right hand towards youngrun and lightning shot out of a silver ring upon it towards him.
But Youngrun raised his brother Eldens magic sword and, with one swift swipe, cut the magicians lightning bolt in two; its two sparkling and crackling halves falling upon the floor.
And so then the magician pointed towards Elden with his other hand and this time a stream of bright fire came bursting out of the ruby ring upon it towards him.
But then Youngrun raised his brother Midlun's magic shield and the fire, though it turned white hot and then even hotter could not melt, burn or even leave a single singe mark upon it.
And then, seeing that the magicians magic could not touch him, Youngrun used his sword to stab the magician deep in the heart.
But when he drew his blade back out again, though it was smeared with the magician's jet black blood, instead of dying, the magician merely laughed.
"Don't you know, foolish boy, that evil has no heart", he said.
Then, with a wicked grin and a wink of his red right eye he made Youngruns sword disappear and with a wink of his purple left eye he made Youngruns shield vanish too.
"Now you have nothing to defend yourself with", he said and, saying that, the magician, drawing his long black cloak about him, transformed himself into what can only be described as a giant, hairy purple bat with large leathery wings, claws like daggers and teeth like knives and then, pouncing upon Youngrun, he knocked the boy to the ground and was about to sink his long, dark fangs deep into the boys neck when, suddenly the rose, because of the magic potion that Youngrun had poured upon it earlier, transformed back into his sister and, picking up the magicians watering can, she quickly poured the potion within it all over the hideous bat monsters head.
The monster did not turn into a rose though because it was far too evil for that; instead it shrank into a little scuttling spider and frightened that either Youngrun or his sister might step upon it, scurried quickly away, hiding under a stone.
And as it did, thankfully their two elder brothers, no longer stone statues now that the magician was vanquished, entered the room and joyfully embraced their siblings before, returning home they all lived happily ever after.
