As Beckett poured himself a drink, the door to the Colonels office opened.
A little mouse of a man with salt and pepper colored hair, wearing a stained white lab coat, and an expression that said sleep was a luxury. Entered. He was accompanied by one of the black clothed Security guards..
Before he could speak, the Colonel, leaning back in his chair proclaimed loudly, "Professor shit for brains, what can we do for you?"
The man jumped "That's Professor Shizlehismit." His voice chalk on the black board scratchy.
"Whatever." The Colonel turned to Beckett. "How's the Scotch Agent?"
"Smooth." Beckett drained his glass and placed it on the desk. He looked at the little man who was nervously rubbing his hands together. "And you would be?"
"I thought we covered that a moment ago Agent Beckett." "Were you not doing good listening?"
Beckett glanced at the Colonel, who shrugged indifferently.
"As a matter of fact I was.. Is they're some reason you're staring at me Professor Shizlehismit?"
The Professors chewed on his lower lip before replying. "You said my name properly."
"Doesn't mean we're engaged." Beckett looked from the Professor, who couldn't keep still, to the Security Guard, standing motionless as a statue. "How about answering my question?"
"I need you to come with me." The Professor replied holding onto the me longer then necessary
"I don't think so." Beckett reached for the decanter deliberately turning away from the professor. "Mind if I have another shot Colonel?."
"No, please, help yourself. " The Colonel placed his hands on the desk then shuffled some papers. They rustled loudly.
The Professor threw his hands up over his ears. "Stop that !"
"Sorry ." The look on the Colonels face showed he was anything but.
As the Professor lowered his hands he placed one on Beckett's shoulder. "You are coming with me and...." He squeaked as the agents gun pressed against his forehead.
The Colonel shook his head "Saw that one coming."
The professors face drained of color, turning pasty white. "Agent Beckett he stammered this isn't very ...." His eyes looked over to the still motionless guard.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you ." Beckett pressed the gun deeper into the mans forehead..
The Colonel took a sip of his drink, "Poor Professor Shit for brains, that has to hurt, and its going to leave a mark. I'm also betting that by the time you instruct Robo-man to disarm Agent Beckett, the back of your head will be on the far side of this room."
The professor ignoring the Colonel regained some composure "Agent Beckett, Dr Brenner wishes to meet with you." But not right now. I was just taking you to your quarters."
Beckett shook his head "Well two things professor. One I didn't ask for quarters. And Two I didn't plan on an overnight.. I didn't bring a toothbrush or my jammies."
In his peripheral vision, The agent saw two of the green crosses on the desk monitor begin to move forward. . "However he said thinking quickly and removing the gun from the professors forehead I would be honored to meet with Dr. Brenner. Can we do this? I'd like to finish my drink, then if its okay by you, and The Dr of course, I will have the Colonel escort me to my quarters."
"The professor hesitated for a second then replied "That will be acceptable Agent Beckett."
Inwardly Beckett sighed with relief as the two on screen crosses moved back. into place.
"The professor rubbed his forehead. "Someone will come for you when Dr Brenner is ready." He turned and walked towards the door followed by his guard.
"I assure you it will not be me." He glared at them from the doorway.
"I would advise you two to be a little more civil." "You'll live longer." The door clicked softly as it closed.
