Police Interview with Paul Clancy;
Torres: What time did you find your boat gone missing?
Clancy: Around three-ten. I thought it cut the moors and drifted in Packery Channel. I ran up the wharf, it was cold and raining but I did not observe a strong current.
Torres: Did you look for Joe Garrison?
Clancy: I did. I checked the beach house. Then I went to my house and called 911.
Torres: Did you say that is your house?
Clancy: Yes, it is mine. I purchased it from Linda Linz last year in December.
Torres: Do you have an alibi that you were at this place?
Clancy: Travis and Ricardo. I live alone.
Torres: How long have you known Miss Linz?
Clancy: Eleven years, twelve years, I guess.
Torres: Two girls were kidnapped and taken to the yacht. They claim it was you talking to them with Miss Linz who picked them in a white van…the white Chevy van at your place in Playa Del Rey.
Clancy: No. I did not go there to pick them.
Torres: Did you see Miss Linz on 31st March?
Clancy: No.
Torres: Did you talk to her on the phone?
Clancy: Yes, I did.
Torres: What did you say?
Clancy: She called. She said she’s watching the murder of the singer on television.
Torres: What were you wearing?
Clancy: Pink jacket, grey trousers.
Torres: Joe Garrison says you were on the boat and gave instruction to sail to Mustang Island with the girls.
Clancy: I did not tell him.
Torres: Did you carry a mini-cassette recorder?
Clancy: No.
Torres: Miss Natalia Phol, she is a private investigator. Do you know that?
Clancy: Yes sir.
Torres: Do you know the case she is after?
Clancy: I think I know. Savon Martin’s death.
Torres: Do you know Savon Martin?
Clancy: Not personally. I represent the other half-brother of Savon Martin. He’s Noth Edwidge Wellinois. I asked her to convince Savon Martin to waiver the will to Hulsen & Quinn. Linda is his boyfriend. I offered money. Linda took it. She didn’t do the job.
Savon committed suicide. I don’t know exactly suicide or homicide. Miss Phol wasn’t convinced. She believes it was murder. I never met her but I have seen her photos from Linda.
Torres: We found three testaments in your boat.
Clancy: Hulsen & Quinn. Jadon Quinn is a friend of mine. He left them on my boat. The will I’m talking about with reference to Linda Linz is one kept at Carmen Law Office in Hammond by Anton Cyril, Noth’s stepfather.
Torres: Why do you think Jadon Quinn was keeping three testaments?
Clancy: I don’t know. You will have to ask him.
Torres: Those papers in the briefcase show a number of payments you made to different people including Mister Jadon Quinn. Are they authentic?
Clancy: They’re all supposed to be authentic. I paid Jadon on several occasions. In my business, real estate, I ask for his help. I pay him to solve cases, yes.
Torres: Did you pay him particularly on the case of Savon Martin?
Clancy: Yes sir.
Torres: Why?
Clancy: When Sidney Martin Cyril was found dead in the lake, Thomas Cyril, a half-brother, a very rich man, came after 69 Church Street but the rightful heirs were Savon Martin and Noth Edwidge Wellinois, another half-brother. I work for him. I proposed a payment to Jadon to win the case. And I made an agreement with Noth that once this case was won, he shall sell the house to me.
Torres: Did you see the three testaments before?
Clancy: No, I did not know they exist. I was told by Jadon Quinn of one will, at that time, raised by Sidney Martin to bestow all her belongings to Savon Martin and Noth. He dropped it in my boat one day after the probate case was granted.
Torres: When was it granted?
Clancy: April 1989.
Torres: Why should you keep it?
Clancy: No reason. He forgot.
Torres: Now the white van, who could be driving it?
Clancy: I don’t know.
Torres: Travis Spano or Ricardo Ramos?
Clancy: Both of them drive the van. It’s in the garage, they don’t ask me. They work for Linda. I hire them to fix my boat engine. They are mechanics.
Torres: Joe Garrison?
Clancy: He works for me.
Torres: Have you paid for the property at Del Rey?
Clancy: Part.
Torres: How did you meet Miss Linz?
Clancy: I learnt from Noth Wellinois that his mother was keeping a will at Carmen, his stepfather’s will and he has seen an original from his mother. I came to know of Linda as Savon Martin’s girlfriend shortly after they made a trip to Turks and Caicos. I called and we met. I offered money. She agreed.
Torres: What exactly do you want Miss Linz to do?
Clancy: Savon Martin to find Carmen’s will, to withdraw it from his mother’s possession. We offered half a million dollars not to claim for the 69 Church Street property. He does not know there was another will for Noth Wellinois. Neither did I. I wanted one party to withdraw. I wanted Linda to convince him for the bargain. The other party is Thomas Cyril. He is a very strong contender. Jadon Quinn talked to them. Not me.
Torres: Was his mother dead at this time?
Clancy: Yes.
Torres: Did Savon Martin agree to your demands?
Clancy: No.
Torres: Miss Phol thinks you have seen the Carmen’s will.
Clancy: Yes, many years later. It was with Linda.
Torres: I understand that you are going to sell 69 Church Street. When did you purchase this place?
Clancy: He finally sold it to me in 1991. I still have to pay a huge amount to Noth Wellinois.
Torres: Alright. We will wrap it for today. This is going to be a very long case.
Clancy: Yes sir.
