The Gates Of Heaven

One night in the graveyard it happened
Bright lights in the distance and I stiffened
It was Eighteen Ninety-three
No one could be free
I cried out, “Please
Let me release!”
From whispers of shivers I figured
Voices of the people who gathered
A window in the breeze
A cold set me freeze
Down on my knees
I reached out to seize
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
A hundred bell rings (la la la la la) echoed from afar
The Gates of Heaven (far…far…)
Angels in the dark clouds I reckoned
I crawled on the gravels and I beckoned
On the edge of my plea
Watch out for me
No one could believe
Lest I should leave
They called out my name I was summoned
In the fearful suddenness that I sinned
I supposed to be
Holding a decree
Sent down on me
A witness to see
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
A hundred bell rings (la la la la la) echoed from afar
The Gates of Heaven (far…far…)
RIFF
It was Eighteen Ninety-three
No one could be free
I cried out, “Please
Let me release!”
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
The Gates of Heaven (aah aah) a mile beyond
A hundred bell rings (la la la la la) echoed from afar
The Gates of Heaven (far…far…)
