I Don’t Know How It Works

When you’re asked to find the value
For a number you have no clue
If you mind doing mathematics
It isn’t tied to tricks
When you sit behind a desk
And try to do a test
You easily fall in a nap
With a book left on your lap
I don’t know how it works
I only know it does
No matter what was taught
We did what we were told
Simplifying is even harder
With the expressions getting tougher
But you know there is an answer
To every problem you’re after
Often when the root is squared
Drop it off ignored
Cross multiplication
In simultaneous equation
I don’t know how it works
I only know it does
No matter what was taught
We did what we were told
Some students are brilliant
They don’t get stuck in a tangent
Coz they all know the formula
Of which I have no idea
When the teacher taught us BODMAS
He laughed out loud at us
It literally meant a huge fish
And I couldn’t stick around this
I don’t know how it works
I only know it does
No matter what was taught
We did what we were told
The teacher set me all clear
Gave me a chance for the final year
I still don’t know the x and y
And what I may have to apply
The best thing that could happen to me
I got pass marks with a C
I told him I did geometry
And the teacher took a treat on me
Still I don’t know how it works
I only know it does
No matter what was taught
We just did what we were told
