As The Stars Go Hiding

Dawn breaks over the rooftops
Sky lights in the hues
It spreads beyond comfort
In the drip of the dews
It’s a peaceful moment
Gone in few seconds
Let’s make the most of it
While it lasts
I feel the shallow breezes
A slight sway in the leaves
And the birds up in the trees
Sing out morning release
I’m not an early riser
I’m not a single sleeper
I just want to stay in bed
A little longer
As the stars go hiding
There’s a new day’s shine
Draw the curtain blinds
Across your eyes
When the last lights go shy
Before sunrise
Day breaks and things turn beat
When the red turns to heat
I have to turn the corner
Pick those leftovers
Little I know of you
Is enough to make a few
More precious early dawns
For me and you
This dawn has spoken truth
In lighting me out of myth
There’s calm before the storm
It’s true and it’s my doom
How about the monsoon
We can make enough room
When the sun never comes out
In the gloom
As the stars go hiding
There’s a new day’s shine
Draw the curtain blinds
Across your eyes
When the last lights go shy
Before sunrise
