Shipwreck

Clouds roll over like dust off a horse’s shoe.
A sudden wind inflates the sail;
Tears the worn linen.
Gentle waves become blazing fists;
Striking the once steadfast wood;
Now rotting and split.
The anguished sky lets fall its agony.
You reach up to calm it;
Though emptiness has nothing to give.
Flares of light hit the far horizon.
The clouds roar with anger;
You lie in your boat.
You're sinking, submerged, swept away.
Discard the water, wind, thunder, rain;
You'd be drowning still.
Lost,
Lost in nothing.
A desolate spirit;
A shipwreck.
