::Jason’s POV::
I imagined her to be carefree and caring; understanding, but also spontaneous. I imagined her to be a wild teen for most of her life, but not one that drank and smoked, and cursed out loud. I wanted her to love life and possible get me to too. I wanted her to be perfect; perfect for me. I loved that word. Perfect. It sounded simply perfect it self. Perfect also came with another name and that was Cassadee.
I always dreamed her to be as graceful as a princess or as sweet as a fairy. And even though right now – as she was yelling at someone I’d didn’t really know – I knew for sure she wasn’t always like that.
Short brown hair tied up into two messy ponytails and mouth moving faster than time itself. Her thin body dressed in jean overalls and a light pink t-shirt and feet covered with plain white sneakers.
If my parents or sister, or anyone of my relatives, or even the maids and servants were to see her now, they’d begin criticizing her in no time.
Cassadee wasn’t rich like me, but she wasn’t poor either. She wasn’t snobby, but I bet she was just as smart though. I liked her already – no, loved her! And I wanted her – all to myself. I didn’t want to wait anymore and I couldn’t either. I needed her and I planned to get her, one way or another. Whether my parents allow me to or not. Well, I know for one, my parents weren’t as shallow and mean as most rich parents. So, I knew winning their hearts would be easy.
But, I needed a decent photo of hers, one where she looked sophisticated or at least like a young lady, and less like a young rebel. I needed her in a dress or at least wearing a skirt. I needed her hair down or up in a ponytail. And lastly I needed a smile on that beautiful face of hers.
I didn’t want to change her, I really didn’t, and I loved the way she was now. Much more loosened up than I am or was for the past…many years. But, for now, for my parents I’d have to.
But, that’s where another situation sprung up, how in the world was I going to do that?! I couldn’t just walk up to her and say, “Hey, I really love you and for the past few days, I’ve been stalking you behind your back. And I would it if you and I were to get married, but my rich parents probably won’t allow, unless you look the way they want you to.”
Or could I? No, no, that’s a stupid idea! She’d think I was a freak or a weirdo, or both. Plus, she might even slap me and start yelling at me like the way she was now at the hot dog vender guy. Apparently, she was talking about the high cost of the hot dogs, when just last week they weren’t nearly as high as they were now.
I wanted to go help her like a true gentleman, but that would require talking to her, and I wasn’t sure my mouth or voice was ready for that sort of thing yet. All I could do was watch her from behind as she went on and on. Finally, in the end, the guy threatened to call her parents to deal with her and that’s when she recoiled.
I found that a bit weird, like why would she be as afraid of her parents and not the police as he had mentioned them as well. But, I figured that she just must be the type of girls who always listened to their parents and tried to stay out of trouble. Like me.
I had to somehow get her to notice me; I couldn’t keep stalking her like this. One day she’s gonna find out and who knows what she’ll think of me as when she does? She’ll never agree to marry me then and all my time will go to waste.
Finally, I got some help from her neighbors’ son, Damien. I had to practically bribe him to get him not to spill anything to Cassadee. I met up with him at a diner close to her house and got to know everything about her. It seemed like this guy was also stalking her, maybe even since she was born, because he seemed to know just about everything about her.
Like the fact that she was a total tomboy, who loved playing football and soccer on weekends. And that she dropped out of senior year in highschool and never went to college, to take care of her family.
She lived with her mother and father, she had no other siblings. She had no friends, but sometimes hung out and played with some of the neighborhood guys. She was almost twenty and her birthday was in two months.
“So, that’s it?” I asked Damien after he was done.
“Yeah, I guess, I can’t remember anymore right now, but if you wanna know more, just give me a call and I’ll get to know more about her.” he replied.
“Alright then, thanks a lot for your help, Damien.”
I got up from the chair and plopped down a wad of money from my wallet and onto the table. Just as I was about to leave, I heard Damien call me back.
“But, this is more than you owe me.” he said.
“I know. I need you to do one more thing for me.” I told him.
“What is it?”
”I need you to get a picture of her in a dress and with makeup on.
”Done!”
I couldn’t believe he actually agreed to it without even an explanation as to why. But, I guess that there are some people in this world who would do pretty much anything for money.
“Oh hey, there’s one more thing,” I heard Damien say. “I heard that she had this younger brother, but he died. Some people blame her for it and I often hear her arguing with her parents over it.”
I nodded and walked away. As I walked, I began wondering about the last thing Damien said about Cassadee. Could that be the reason why she acts like a tomboy, so she could substitute for her baby brother? But, that’s none of my business. All I need is a picture. One photo and I can have her all to myself.
